The Lotus Tower, also known as the Colombo Lotus Tower, is one of the tallest and most famous landmarks in Sri Lanka. It is located in Colombo 01, near Beira Lake.

The tower is 351.5 meters (1,153 feet) tall. It is the tallest self-supported tower in South Asia and one of the tallest towers in the world. It has become a symbol of modern Sri Lanka.

The tower was first planned to be built in Peliyagoda, but later the government decided to build it in the center of Colombo, beside Beira Lake.

Design

The design of the Lotus Tower is inspired by the lotus flower, which is an important symbol in Sri Lankan culture. The lotus represents purity, peace, and growth. The base of the tower is designed to look like a lotus throne, and the tower is decorated with colorful RGB lights that can change its appearance at night.

Purpose

The Lotus Tower is used for telecommunication, tourism, and entertainment. It works as a broadcasting tower for television and radio stations and also supports many telecommunication services across the country.

The tower is also a popular tourist attraction, offering beautiful views of Colombo from its observation deck.

Facilities

The Lotus Tower has four entrances, including two special entrances for VIP guests and state leaders.
